mysterious underground dubstep producer, zomby, releases his new album 'dedication' via 4ad. the album is designed as a 'dedication to someone much loved and missed', and is a suitably fragile record. standout tracks are the panda bear-led 'things fall apart', the album's first single. while the beats are simple, crystalline things, they compliment noah's earnest vocals perfectly. 'natalia's song', the irina dubtzova-sampling track made famous after kode9 dropped it a while back, hiccups over a subdued spacey beat before sliding smoothly into 'alothea's 2-step shimmy. 'basquiet' brings the album to a heart-wrenching climax with a lovely piano dirge. as strings begin to swell slowly in the background. 'dedication' is a beautiful, epic and emotional album.
