hackedepicciotto is an experimental music project hailing from Berlin, Germany. The duo consists of Alexander Hacke, a member of Einstürzende Neubauten since 1980, and Danielle De Picciotto, an American-born musician, artist, author, and filmmaker. Together, they create captivating soundscapes by blending acoustic instruments like violin, hurdy-gurdy, and autoharp with rumbling bass guitar and electronic feedback.

Alexander Hacke has been a native of Berlin since birth and joined Einstürzende Neubauten at the young age of 15. Meanwhile, Danielle De Picciotto moved to Berlin in 1987 and made her mark as the singer of The Space Cowboys before co-founding the first Love Parade in 1989. She also collaborated with Gudrun Gut on the Ocean Club event series starting in 1993. In addition to filming videos for Hacke and Einstürzende Neubauten during the 2000s, De Picciotto organized Bada Bing alongside Hacke—a monthly event showcasing unconventional music and visuals. The couple tied the knot in 2006.

The artistic journey of hackedepicciotto includes various notable releases such as "The Ship of Fools" (2008), which presented their audiovisual interpretation of Sebastian Brant's novel from 1495. They also released "Hitman's Heel

Founded in 1978 by [a=Daniel Miller], Mute (also known as [l36339]) releases various forms of music, with an emphasis on electronic and experimental pop. In May 2002 the label was acquired by the [l=EMI Group]. In 2010 Miller did an agreement with EMI to handle Mute as an independent label again, licensing the trademark from EMI via his company [l=Mute Artists Ltd.], but EMI kept the rights over Mute's back catalogue. After the EMI Group was dissolved, in 2012 [l206061] acquired [l636]'s back catalogue.

Branch offices exist in Germany ([l168349]) and in North America ([l36296]). 

Mute has spawned many regional and special-interest sublabels, some of which are still active. One offshoot, [l=Parallel Series], even became independent of [l636] Mute also operates Mute Bank Mail Order, which sells the label's merchandise directly to consumers. Mute Bank published two issues of [i]Mute Statement[/i], a softcover book that details the entire discography of the label and includes band profiles and photos of release artwork.

Another label strongly associated with Mute is [l=Toast Hawaii], run by [a=Depeche Mode]'s [a=Andrew Fletcher].

Perseverantia, the first studio album from the experimental duo hackedepicciotto, unavailable since original pressing in 2016, is reissued alongside Menetekel and The Current via Mute. hackedepicciotto are married couple Alexander Hacke and Danielle de Picciotto. Both are legends of their own making: Danielle the lead singer of the band Space Cowboys and the co-initiator of the Love Parade, and Alexander a founding member of the seminal German group Einstürzende Neubauten, known for working with the likes of Crime and the City Solution (1987 – 1991) and Phew.Perseverantia, meaning endurance and persistence, was recorded in the California Mojave desert and originally released in 2016. The album unveils the essence of the duo’s truisms, with mesmerising soundscapes created by Alexander’s throat-singing, the hypnotic hurdy-gurdy, ether-plucking harp, eerie violin and gritty bass and guitar. This is paired with spoken words from Danielle carefully scattered throughout the album, with the main lyrical focus being “Perseverantia ad finem optatum”, which is chanted on the title track and emphasises that “to successfully achieve a positive goal we need one thing above all, endurance.”
