Stone Temple Pilots is an alternative rock band that was formed in 1986 in San Diego, California. Originally known as "Mighty Joe Young," they later changed their name to Stone Temple Pilots, inspired by the STP Oil logo. With their unique sound and powerful lyrics, Stone Temple Pilots have become one of the most influential bands in the alternative rock genre.
Since their formation, Stone Temple Pilots have released several critically acclaimed albums and achieved commercial success with hits like "Plush," "Interstate Love Song," and "Vasoline." Their music combines elements of grunge, hard rock, and psychedelic rock, creating a distinctive sound that sets them apart from other bands.

Rhino Records, also known as Rhino, is a renowned music label that was established in 1973 by Richard Foos. Starting as a record store in Westwood California, Rhino quickly gained recognition with its first successful release "Go To Rhino Records" by Wild Man Fischer in 1975. The label's early logo featured "Rocky the Rhino" and focused on novelty, surf, local new wave bands, and reissues of out-of-print records from other labels.

Under the guidance of Bill Inglot for production, Ken Perry for mastering, and A&R team Gary Stewart and James Austin, Rhino expanded its catalog to include a wide range of reissues by the mid-1980s. The label underwent a logo redesign during this time period to simply "Rhino". In 1984, Rhino released its first CD and became known for manufacturing high-quality CDs made by Sanyo (1984-85) and various manufacturers from Japan or Switzerland thereafter.

In 1985, Rhino entered into a distribution deal with Capitol Records which lasted until 1992. This partnership allowed access to Capitol's back catalog and led to the release of reissues of old Capitol albums. Additionally, EMI and Rhino acquired the Roulette family of labels in 1989. As their deal with Capitol came to an end in 1992, Time-Warner offered an opportunity for growth. Half of the label was sold to Time-Warner

Released 25 years ago on 26th March 1996, the album is a pitch-perfect amalgamation of the band members’ musical personalities, yielding three US #1 hits – “Big Bang Baby,” “Lady Picture Show,” and “Trippin’ On A Hole In A Paper Heart.” 3CD / 1LP - This set includes a newly remastered version of the original studio album on both CD and 180 Gram black vinyl, plus unreleased versions of early versions, instrumentals, and alternate takes along with a complete concert recording from 1997.Along with a newly remastered version of the original album, the Super Deluxe Edition features 15 unreleased tracks that pull back the curtain on the creative process. Those include early versions of nearly every song on the album with nascent incarnations of “Tumble In The Rough,” “Pop’s Love Suicide” and “Seven Caged Tigers.” The selections also feature an alternate take for “Big Bang Baby,” and a percussion mix of “Trippin’ On A Hole In A Paper Heart.” There’s also instrumentals for “Ride The Cliché” and “Adhesive,” plus the unreleased “Kretz’s Acoustic Song.”An exclusive feature of the Super Deluxe Edition is a previously unreleased live recording of the band’s 14th March 1997 concert in Panama City Beach, Florida.
