Rough Trade Essential

Legacy is Sony Music Entertainment's catalog and reissue label. It was introduced by Columbia Records in 1960 for historical recordings. In 1990, CBS Records relaunched Legacy for reissues and repackaged releases. Since then, it has been used by CBS's successors. The label, sometimes indicated as "Legacy Recordings," is known for its extensive collection of *historical recordings* and *reissued albums*. With a focus on preserving the rich musical heritage of various artists and performers, Legacy offers music enthusiasts an opportunity to explore timeless classics and rediscover iconic sounds from the past.

Rage Against the Machine (RATM) is an alternative rock/modern rock band formed in 1991 in Los Angeles, California. Known for their unique blend of hip hop, heavy metal, punk, and funk, as well as their revolutionary politics and lyrics. After disbanding in 2000 due to Zack de la Rocha's departure for a solo career, the remaining members joined Audioslave. In 2007, RATM reunited for several shows and later formed Prophets of Rage with Chuck D and DJ Lord from Public Enemy and B-Real from Cypress Hill. In 2019, RATM announced their return while Prophets of Rage disbanded.

Formed in 1991, Rage Against the Machine opened the gates of a new boundary-obliterating rock-rap musical alliance with the band's literate and politically-charged debut album. Featuring band members Tim Commerford, Zack De La Rocha, Tom Morello and Brad Wilk, Rage Against the Machine became a critical and commercial success, selling millions of copies around the world while attaining legendary status among alt-rock fans. 

To this day the album, and the band, remain standard-bearers for uncompromising incendiary rock.
