In the mid-60s, Alabama-born Sandy Posey gently tore down the walls that traditionally separated girl groups, beat groups, country, and rhythm and blues to fashion a unique brand of smart, sassy, and emotionally searing pop.An inspiration to the young Dolly Parton and revered by British Mods, the effortlessly chic Posey was later idolized by, among many others, Morrissey, who included her ‘I Take It Back’ in his 1989 list of “Singles To Be Cremated With”, and power pop favourites The Primitives, who revisited Posey’s ‘Single Girl’ in 2012.
