This is the seventh studio album from acclaimed German composer and musician Nils Frahm and was recorded in Berlin. Before he recorded it he spent two years building his entire studio from the woodwork to the electrical cabling before he even got to the mixing desk and instruments.

His new album is born out of the freedom that his new environment provided, allowing Nils to explore without any restrictions. To call the album atmospheric would be underserving. Haunting choral voices surge over floods of organ notes. At times ever so slightly tropical rhythms sneak in, this combination is soothing and calming and at the same time otherworldly. All Melody is proof that music is limitless and timeless, and reflects Nils' own artistic progression - from a boy’s dream to resetting the parameters of music itself.

AOTM 2018

Field Music is a band hailing from Sunderland, England. Formed in 2004, the core of the group consists of brothers David and Peter Brewis, who have both played drums for fellow Sunderland band The Futureheads. Over the years, Field Music's lineup has seen various changes, with talented musicians such as Andrew Moore on piano, Ian Black on bass, Andrew Lowther on bass, Kev Dosdale on guitar, and Tom English (later of Maxïmo Park) on drums.

The Brewis brothers are not only known for their work with Field Music but also for their involvement in multiple side-projects that have garnered equal acclaim. These include School Of Language, The Week That Was, Frozen By Sight (with Paul Smith of Maxïmo Park), and Slug led by Ian Black.

In February 2016, Field Music released their fifth album proper titled "Commontime." Their music is often associated with artists like Gruff Rhys, The Week That Was, School Of Language Dutch Uncles Steve Mason Super Furry Animals Wild Beasts The Bees White Denim Gorky's Zygotic Mynci John Grant C Duncan Here We Go Magic BC Camplight Teleman The High Llamas Gaz Coombes Django Django and Jane Weaver.

February 2018 sees the return of Field Music with Open Here on Rough Trade exclusive blue colored vinyl via <a href="https://roughtrade.com/us/label-focus-memphis-industries">Memphis Industries</a>.

The two years since Commontime have been strange and turbulent. If you thought the world made some kind of sense, you may have questioned yourself a few times in the past two years. And that questioning, that erosion of faith - in people, in institutions, in shared experience - runs through every song on the new Field Music album. But there's no gloom here. For Peter and David Brewis, playing together in their small riverside studio has been a joyful exorcism. Open Here is the last in a run of five albums made at the studio, an unprepossessing unit on a light industrial estate in Sunderland. Whilst the brothers weren't quite tracking while the wrecking balls came, the eviction notice received in early 2017 gave the brothers a sense of urgency in the recording of Open Here. There probably won't be many other rock records this year, or any year, which feature quite so much flute and flugelhorn (alongside the saxophones, string quartet and junk box percussion). But somehow or other, it comes together. Over thirteen years and six albums, Field Music have managed to carve a niche where all of these sounds can find a place; a place where pop music can be as voracious as it wants to be.
