Soundgarden is widely recognized as one of the pioneers of grunge music. While their sound leaned more towards rock and metal, they played a significant role in shaping the genre alongside bands like Pearl Jam, Mudhoney, and Nirvana. Their album Badmotorfinger marked their peak in 1991, but later releases showcased a more alternative side to their music. "Black Hole Sun" became their biggest hit single. In 1997, the band amicably went their separate ways to pursue other interests. Vocalist Chris Cornell notably joined forces with members of Rage Against The Machine to form Audioslave.
In 2010, after a twelve-year hiatus, Chris Cornell announced on social media that Soundgarden was back together and ready to make new music. However, tragedy struck on May 18th, 2017 when Chris Cornell was found dead in his hotel room after a show in Detroit.

Soundgarden: Live from the Artists Den is a live concert film and album produced in conjunction with the Chris Cornell Estate, Universal Music and Artists Den, a music series that stages intimate concerts by influential artists. The collection captures Soundgarden's February 2013 performance at the Wiltern in Los Angeles, which was the concluding show of the act's King Animal tour.

The limited-edition Super Deluxe box (LPx4+) features the 29-song concert film on Blu-ray in high-definition, more than 30 minutes of band interviews, 4 LPs, 2 CDs, a 40-page photo book, 4 band member lithos, a replica all-access pass, and replica ticket stub.

The 2-disc Blu-ray is showcased in stunning 1080p 23.98 high definition video with Dolby TrueHD 5.1 surround sound and PCM stereo audio. Bonus material features 30+ minutes of interviews with the band, and all lyrics subtitled.

The 4LP 180-gram audiophile black vinyl concert album features the full performance with a packaging slipcase that holds four individual jackets which link together to form one large image and a two-panel insert.

On the CDx2 version, the nearly two-and-a-half-hour performance encompasses the band's entire legacy of songs, featuring 17 songs that have never been released on a live album, including "Blind Dogs", which is the first time the band ever performed the song live.
