Neil Young is a Canadian-American singer-songwriter and musician known for his solo releases, collaborations with other artists, and his activism on environmental and political issues. He plays guitar, keyboards, and harmonica. Born in Toronto, Canada in 1945, Young currently holds dual citizenship for Canada and the United States. He has been living in California since the sixties. In 1995, he was inducted into the Rock And Roll Hall of Fame as a performer. Despite facing delays due to his marijuana use, Young successfully became a United States citizen.
Young's musical career spans several decades and genres including folk rock, country rock, and grunge. As an influential figure in the music industry, he has released numerous critically acclaimed albums both as a solo artist and with various bands such as Crosby Stills Nash & Young (CSNY).
In addition to his musical pursuits, Neil Young also runs Vapor Records - an independent record label that supports emerging artists. His passion for environmental causes led him to co-found Farm Aid - an annual benefit concert that raises funds for family farmers.
